After surprising us in 2005 with her “Hung Up” music video, where one could see Madonna’s beautifully fit legs in full tan fishnet leggings glory, as illustrated on the image below, the fully acclaimed queen of pop has managed to amaze us yet again with her newest “Give me All Your Luvin” video.
The choice for fishnets is maintained but, matching the darker atmosphere of the new video, the colour of choice for the undergarment was black. Still, what managed to catch our attention was obviously not the change of colour but the change of style with a full featured display of the 53 years old pop singer’s pantyhose’s waistline in several shots throughout the video.
While the whole underwear as outerwear look spearheaded by the outrageous Lady Gaga is still out there in full bloom and gaining fans by the minute we believe it is not something most women feel courageous (or demented?) enough to try out in public, especially when you have hundreds of halls of shame spread throughout the internet inciting mobs to pick up torches and forks and chase celebrities bold enough to do it back to their evil lairs of fashion doom.
On the other hand, the slightly less outrageous but still original and alluring “visible waistline look” is something that we can picture teenage to mid twenties girls feeling confident enough to sponsor and to turn into a new rebellious legwear fashion statement possibly burying the whole “leggings as pants” look (and controversy) in the process.
Yes, it’s true that you’ll be showing off something that was previously meant to be deeply tucked away under your skirt or shorts but still it is considerably less aggressive to the public eye than fully featuring your buttocks in tight (and sometimes see-through) leggings like we’ve all been seeing for a few years now (not that we have anything against it here at PParty, we’re completely ok with it as long as you have the legs to go along with it).
If you still haven’t watched the “Give me All Your Luvin” video you can do it below.
