Iben Bergstrøm is a Norwegian fashion blogger and communications consultant with a truly unique genuine style.
We discovered Iben’s blog sometime ago and we fell completely in love with her awesome multicolored looks and the way her choice of legwear plays a huge part in the way she expresses herself through clothing.
We asked her a few questions in order to get to know her better, her favorite legwear styles and brands and her advice to anyone that wants to start revolutionizing their wardrobes and express herself through the power of color!
If you had to describe your style how would you do it?
Colorful, eclectic and preferably with feathers, glitter, brushed pastel colored wool or lots of volume involved.
When you’re putting together your outfits where do you normally get your inspiration from?
I’m very inspired by shapes, I watched two Disney Movies the other day (Candyland and Cloudy with a chance of meatballs) and I found both very inspiring, hahaha. Oversized food and candy – you got me.
Can you name two people who have had the biggest influence on your style?
My boyfriend – he’s always told me that I should dress in whatever I want.
Do you consider yourself to be a trendsetter?
No, I don’t – because that’s not what I’d like to be considered as either. Trends will always pass, but true and genuine style lasts forever. I hope to inspire people to dare more, to choose that pink dress they think they can’t wear to that dinner party. Or like my greek teacher which is dressed in all black with black nailpolish; she went a nuance brighter to a dark grey after she had seen something on my blog. That’s more than good enough for me.
Do you receive mails from fans of your blog asking you for style tips? What’s the main advice that you normally give them?
Yes I do. Usually people would like to get more knowledge on how to dress in colors. I usually say that it’s like working out, you need to make an effort. Plan ahead, lay the outfit out the night before, start with a yellow pantyhose and then move on to bigger things. But most importantly: never ever care about what others may think.
What are some of your favorite hosiery brands and shops?
Falke is my favourite. Long lasting and nice colors.
What was the priciest legwear item you’ve ever bought?
Around 40 euros, a pair of wool Falkes.
What was the last pair of pantyhose/leggings you bought?
A petrol blue and lilac magenta pair of Falkes.
Walk us through your legwear drawer, what are some of your favorite items and why?
I use orange and bright magenta a lot, one of these is from H&M, the other one from Century 21 in New York. Then I like to do blue nuances so I use three different shades of blue – depending on what I’m wearing all from Falke. Then I have a mint green one from H&M and a pink nudeish one which I use with dresses in the same color. All my pantyhose are matte.
How does legwear influence the outfits you put together?
Hugely, they are essential to most of my looks.
Your blog features a whole range of legwear looks, what are your favorite type of motifs, prints and textures when it comes to tights, leggings and socks?
I like simple, medium thick solid color pantyhose. The only thing which is a bit off is that Falke does not make a solid hold in on the top, so I need to do a bit of dragging often. Don’t like that.
What do you think is going to be the next big trend in the legwear universe?
I do believe I’ve seen some embellished stockings around – I hope those get mass produced!
We’d like to thank Iben for putting up with all of our questions!
