Ayamé is a niche brand dedicated solely to legwear started by Japanese designer Aya Agaoka in 2007 which combines a very modern fun approach to legwear with expert craftsmanship, high quality materials and perfect finishings.
The prices of the tights can go up to the 5.000 ¥ mark (around 50€ / 60$ a pair according to current currency conversion) which is a little steep but a fair price once you consider that you’re paying for limited edition legwear by a small exclusive brand which guarantees a very high quality control.
Below you can see, on the top row, items from the new Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection which, unfortunately are still unavailable for order through the brand’s website although there’s a text announcing that they shold have been released in September and October. We tried to search for these tights on reseller’s websites but we could only find a few items from old collections so the only solution is to wait for an update to their website. Our favourite item is the Wafflecone Wool Tights in dark red colour which looks really nice with that faux 3d bevel illusion around the multicoloured diamond shapes of the pattern.
The 5 items on the bottom row are from previous collections which we found still for sale on a reseller’s website. These are more flashy and colourful than the latest collection and were possibly released during the Spring or reveal a gradual shift towards a more exquisite classy sober style from the looks of the AW2012 collection. We really love the Royalty Pindot tights which combine the diamond shaped hole pattern with tiny purple and pink diamonds embroidered inside them.
